bestlifeonline.com — Mounds of plastic garbage seem to be building in the Pacific doldrums. Good read if you've ever wondered what happens when plastic "gets loose" in the environment. Oh yeah, keep an eye open for the turtle.

For attribution's sake, here's a link to another story from the same Charles Moore referenced in the story. This is a story describing his first voyage into the sewer that is forming in a chunk of the North Pacific Gyre: <a class="user" href="http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/master.html?http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/1103/1103_feature.html.">http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/master.html?http://www.naturalhistorymag.com/1103/1103_feature.html.</a>Before you can hope to speak like an adult in a serious environmental conversation I think you need to have a grip on how complex such an issue is and I believe that both articles convey a sense of this. Neither article seemed to cross over the line to overt advocacy (maybe excepting the turtle pic from TFA) and I personally find such coverage very gratifying. I wish that the MSM would see fit to cover stories of such quality but I guess that's the beauty of this whole "Web 2.0" thing, huh?

Too bad most Digg users don't care about this issue. Earth is large but not infinite. It is the only planet we have to live on. We can either be selfish children demanding for more consumer items we don't need or we can clean up the place so we can leave the world a better place for future generations. After all, the planet we save might be our own.

This is a horrible situation the world is going through. I wished the title of this digg article was a bit better though. Not the best title to attract attention to a world pollution issue. I am referring to "Could this be Barbie & Ken's Kingdom Come?".
