blog.andrewparker.net— VC Andrew Parker debates whether or not digg could ever compete with specialty search engines, if it could gather enough meaningful articles at a rapid pace...

Digg has the most useless search engine I've ever seen. I've never ever found my intended result before the 5th results page. I have more luck finding Digg pages by querying the entire web on Google.
I have always known that humans are better than machines. Machines are simply tools humans employ. Search engines are no different from digg, it's all about reaching the parts the the other cannot reach.
i dont even use digg search, or any search on any site, i just use googel, if i want to search digg for planets i google planets digg. if i want to search youtube for funny i google funny youtube. ect... get with it
That's sorta kinda what I want to do with http://www.myallo.comIt reads RSS feeds, you rate articles according to your interest, then it learns to show you better articles. It keeps a General Interest Profile which ranks according to the membership as a whole. It's just starting and only has a few thousand articles, it needs to scan a ton more RSS feeds, but you can see the concept.

You mean something like http://www.oozm.com which is a similar concept to digg but it is a search engine. Users seems to submit links and vote it up or down for keywords.

I do not think Digg would survive without search.

no, this is a selected bundle of informations. a search engine produces hits by keyword or other search terms. this is hand-selected, is it not?

Oops, forgot to hyperlink it (for the lazy ones): http://www.wink.com
