articles.moneycentral.msn.com — Costco has succeeded by flouting industry norms. The bigbox retailer charges customers a base yearly fee, now $50, to shop in its sprawling stores, which offer quality goods at low markups. Consequently, its margins are among the slimmest in retailing. The privileges also extend to employees, who are paid well and enjoy generous healthcare benefits

As much as I like costco, I also hate going there. I dont remember one time I've been there where I havent spent less than $250 , Usually its $300-400. The stuff there is a good price, but most stuff that is cheap, you end up having to buy more than you need, or want for that matter.

I currently work at Costco in the bakery department and I have nothing but good things to say about the company. I got lucky and was hired when they opened a new store in my area. Starting pay is $10 an hour for a service assistant and $10.50 for a service clerk (all hourly jobs fall under those two categories) Pay raises are based on hours worked (around every 800 hours you get a raise based on a pre determined scale) As a part-time employee I get full health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K among other stuff.

No, broomett - You're the stupid f**king assh**e - there is only ONE, yes ONE class action lawsuit against Costco, and it has NOTHING TO DO WITH WORKING CONDITIONS. It has to do with alleged gender bias for management positions and frankly, it doesn't have a lot of traction. You should read Google more closely next time you do a search, dimwit. The Bastard

Yeah, costco is nice to their employees, and horrible to their suppliers. They really rape the small guy. I have heard 1st had countless stories.

- Yeah I went to law school here... - At Costco...?? - Yeah! I couldn't believe it myself ! Luckily my dad was an alumnus, and pulled some strings...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdlVUGKUppEThe genius that is Mike Judge, strikes back with a vengeance.

@spyroI would not buy a home PC or HDTV anywhere but Costco. I returned TWO dead Philips LCD HDTVs. Each TV died about 3 months after purchase. It took under 5 minutes to process the return each time. Can't beat that. I ended up buying a slightly more expensive Sharp Aquos. Who needs a hassle?

Hello, My name is Matthew Rogers and I am currently an employee at costco. I have worked there 4 months since the new store in Nashville opened back in October 2006. On January 15 I got a .15 cent raise, after I finished my probationary period, witch is three months. Well Yesterday FEB 27, 2007, they told us all employees are getting a raise. The Total pay rate starting out use to be 10.00 an hour and now it is 11.00 an hour. Every 800 hours worked, I go up .50 cents. Costco is the best place to work. I also really respect the CEO. The CEO comes to EVERY SINGLE BUILDING when it opens, to meet and shake the hand of every employee. It is a busy place to work, but it is well worth it. They set you up to succeed. I like the fact, that even if BIG positions arent available for the taking, you still get more money, the more you work. And there is even an extra check thing, witch you will just have to work there, to learn about that. I LOVE COSTCO, and they make it fun to work.

All for the low low price of keeping track of all of the marketing information and buying patterns of the demographics linked to the cards you have to carry to purchase anything there. I wonder how much that information is worth?

I am involved in the same lawsuit, and I wholeheartedly agree with everything this user has posted.
