gateworld.net— Stargate's producers are looking for another outlet for SG-1 and asks viewers to maintain their ratings and keep watching stargate

That's the problem, they can't track TV RIps and DVRs because TV rips don't matter to advertisers because the commercials are cut and people fast forward through commercials on DVRs. Ultimatley it is the advertisers that have the final say, and if the show isn't pulling enough ratings to attract advertisers then they are pulled. Why Farscape was canceled? Because it cost more money than was being generated by advertisers because it had to compete Friday nights with other overly hyped but ultimatley sucky shows airing on other stations. It's not about how much the show is enjoyed, it's about how much marketing revenue the show generates. They could care less if you love it, they only want to know if you are tuning in to watch it at that time slot, so they can pass a 30 second advert in front of your eyes.
Ironic and sad isn't it?They could have ended the show perfectly after the eps "Lost City pt 1&2" and gone straight to SGA but sci-fi cancels it now, in the middle of the Ori war.The SG crew musta known this was coming though. Look at all the references in the 200th ep to cancelling shows and making movies. I'm guessing 200 was their way of saying goodbye.I really do hope Stargate finds a way to continue. But if not, then it should at least go out gracefully.
"it's not their job to market the syndicated content. The television stations who purchased the rights to broadcast the show are the ones responsible for marketting it. It's common business sense -- you don't advertise something after you've already sold it."I understand that, but what I'm saying is that if Sci-Fi marketed the show more, and generated more hype where it would not only attract viewers to Sci-Fi but to the syndicated channels as well (i'm talkinga bout channels within the U.S. not foreign), they would get the spill over market.I don't know maybe I'm over thinking, but it seems to me that a lot of potentiol audience is being lost do to improper marketing.
most shows after half star gates time get old Enterprise,far-scape, and x-filesjust to name a few but this hasn't with good writing and acting it never got old it just git better as it rolled on. session one is b movie by comparison and vary few shows break out of that. plus it never make dumbs thing down like star trek or star wars did. but to cancel it so abutly seems odd considering its starting to get its old audience back from when O'Neil left.
Technically, commercials do not have a higher volume. They eliminate the low- and high-frequency sounds during compression, which makes the commercials louder to the human ear (we are more sensitive to the mid-range).Still, my thumb has rubbed the icon off the mute button.

Oh like any of US were going anywhere on Friday night.

Yeah, I hate how channels increase the volumn when commercials are on.

@Ilyag: I know it's syndicated, but how much marketing do they invest in to get it to be watched on syndicated channels?
