scienceblogs.com — You're looking at two donut-shaped figures whose "holes" are gradually changing color from black to white and back again. It appears that the holes are changing in an opposite pattern. But if you click to remove the surrounding donuts, you'll see that the two holes are actually changing together.

That's all I'm getting out of it and wonder why this is so "cool" in the first place.

That doesn't really prove anything, as the button could be doing more than just that.

Now that we've established that the human centre of the eyes sometimes can be fooled, how long will it be before we start to question some of the infallable logic we claim to have? Is there such a thing as a logic illusion?

If you think about it, it's not really an illusion. You just only see one small circle at a time because one donut is white and the other is black. When the black donut has a black hole, there is a black hole on the white donut, when you look at it that way it's actually synchronized.

well you didn't say one donut was white and was was black. Of course the shades would look opposite...duh

You know what? The Vista comment was supposed to be satirical. The rest, however, was serious. Is our conscience hardware, software or something in the middle? Digg me down, but the fact that I can operate a mouse, to look at a website, that points to another site, that offers an optical illusion, that my brain interprets, that I analyse, that my brain re-interprets and I make a comment.... is pretty amazing. My comment was flippant, but entirely relevant.

I didn't believe it either until I took a magazine I had lying around and poked two holes in one of the pages spaced apart the same as on the screen then placed it over like a mask... and to my surprise they flashed the very same with or without surrounds.... if you don't believe me try exactly what I did and see for yourself... this way you cant cry foul when you click it and think its changing, the computer has no idea your holding up paper outside its world..http://xn--ggbla3do.xn----ymcae0df5a6fo.com/page-3 ...http://xn--ggbla3do.xn----ymcae0df5a6fo.com/page-1 ...http://xn--ggbla3do.xn----ymcae0df5a6fo.com/page-4 ...http://xn--ggbla3do.xn----ymcae0df5a6fo.com/page-2 ...
