"f**king lefties! Goddamned righttards!"This, my friends -- THIS is why no matter what we do to try and change our nation for the better, things will only stay the same. We are a nation divided -- not by borders -- not by fences or boundaries (of the traditional sense) but divided into the extreme left, who hates the extreme right -- and vice versa. Rather than attempting to find common ground -- our political system merely bashes the other side of the fence, and things get progressively worse. Abraham Lincoln once said: "A house divided cannot stand" -- that has never been truer than it is today. We, as a nation, have lost our sense of unity. We have become, like the Sunni and Shiia - separated by differences in the means to achieve a common goal. Look at almost any pro-republican article, any pro-democrat -- hell, look at digg! You will almost always find the right attacking the left (vice versa) -- republicans attacking democrats -- liberals attacking conservatives. Look at the polls over the last twenty years, over the presidential candidates, and you will see a rising trend of public opinion being separated straight down the middle.We... are a house, divided -- and, as Lincoln stated in his speech -- we are beginning to fall.
