thinkprogress.org — Video at ThinkProgress. At a hearing last week, audience members groaned at a remark made by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) about torturing alleged terror suspects. Rohrabacher told the audience members, "Well, I hope it's your families, I hope it's your families that suffer the consequences."

I'm sorry but as a die hard libertarian, I'd hardly consider any of these neo-con anti-constitutionalists to be in the least bit conservative. They are IMHO as liberal as any other Socialist/Fascist out there.

@laserblazerIsolationism doesn't work that well. We have too many interests and dependencies on the rest of the world. It is a good idea in theory, but we depend on too many people, and too many people depend on us.

the republicans are going nuts trying to justify the damage they've done to our country. i'd feel sorry for them, but there's still work to do to get them out of power!

@metsquaresNo I am not saying that.... at all.. I am opposed to it. My point is what is the last thing the gov. did to protect its citizens that WASNT bitched about. I am far from a bush supporter, but any human would get tired of hearing how dumb they are... and as dumb as they may be US soil has been safe lately. It probably would have been anyway but we will never know that for sure.

ill-suited voters misinformed by an ill-suited media, methinks.

tkstock, this story is about how republicans think your family should die if you're against torture, not you promoting the liberal smear. that's why no one wants to talk to you.

He projects the same "hysteria factor" as Bill O'Reilly. I think Dana would be a good running mate with Giuliani.

tkstock, islamists are not the only people who will kill you if you disagree with you. It is just that you look at the world in an "US vs THEM" mentality, so you are unable to equally judge the actions and rhetoric from both sides. I would think that a lot of people in Iraq must think the same about American foreign policy -- if you don't agree with us, we'll kill you, bomb your towns, put 12 foot high walls around your neighborhoods, etc."THEY" aren't always as evil as you are led to believe. Often, they just disagree with "US", but in order to get ordinary citizens frothing at the mouth for some sort of action, hyperbolic and vitriolic statements are made that less-than-discerning people eat up without a second thought.Just look at history. Just look at how all extremist, authoritarian regimes have done the very same thing, created a larger-than-life enemy out of some outside force or group in order to rally the unthinking masses behind some violent policy.Bin Laden tells his followers the exact same thing that you are buying into here on the other side -- that "the crusaders" want to defile their women, desecrate their holy sites, rape, murder and destroy everything they believe in. Obviously he's wrong, and obviously any lunatic on "our side" spewing that same type of rhetoric is equally wrong. Both sides are just human beings who disagree, and apparently prefer to resort to violence rather than using more intelligent means to resolve problems. And you have chosen to be part of the problem, not the solution. That's sad, but understandable, since most people are incapable of higher thought.

desertjeeper thinks he's a she because he isn't intelligent enough to have decent reading comprehension. "Dana" is always a female. Kelly, Pat, Dana, those must always be women."duhrrr, how should I know, I'm retarded!"

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher said "we’ve got to make sure that we do not let go 50 terrorists who will go out and plant a bomb in London and kill 20,000 people in order to protect that one person who we arrested accidentally because his name was the same"What 50 terrorists do we have in custody. With out any trials or hearings how does he know if we have 50 terrorists in custody. Maybe they are all innocent. These people were arrested by CIA and military personel while in the wake of 9/11. In America we have judges and jurers that make sure that our police are arresting the right people. Where are the checks for the military. Do you trust their training that much to believe that all the people rounded up by the military are real terrorists? If that is true then we should have the military patroling our streets and we won't need courts or judges.
