tuaw.com — The bottom right of the Apple guided tour page confirms that Apple will be selling the iPhone online. Since the option is still grayed out, it's unclear whether the link will take you to the online Apple Store, to an AT&T site, or to some combination of the two, and how much stock will be assigned to that store. Does this change your plans?

OMG! I can buy it online and get it unlocked! Um, hello? Do you people not understand.... EVEN IF YOU COULD GET ANY CELLPHONE IN ITS UNLOCKED FORM, MOST CARRIERS WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PUT ANY OLD PHONE ON THEIR NETWORK. Cellular carriers have a lineup of phones that have been tested on their own networks; you can't just walk into a store and say, "Hey, I've got this unlocked phone and I'd like you to do an ESN change for me." Good luck with that. Theory and reality are two different places.

While repairing computers at my old school there was an Apple rep there to fix a Macbook Pro. We started talking about the iPhone. He waas saying that it was 3.5gp capable, and storage upgrades will be available through something that uses the mini usb port. I also asked if it required a data plan and he said it didn't due to the iPhone having wi-fi.Has anyone else heard if it required a data plan?

Textedit (OSX version of Notepad) can save or edit files into Word format, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the iPhone has this capability built in as well.
