bloomberg.com — Some analysts still say that the $99 iPhone will probably happen eventually, but others are specific enough to claim that a Bentonville, Arkansas location will sell the discontinued 4GB model in addition to the 8GB and 16GB versions, which have been confirmed at their normal $199 and $299 prices.

Yeah and who is really surprised by this? Apple wants to sell more units only makes sense you'd go for the gold with by far the largest merchandise seller in USA.

it's not apple becoming mainstream that's bad, it's Apple gaining even more power that's bad... i they ever get close to the sort of market-share Microsoft has, Apple will unleash bolted-down, monopolistic hell the likes of which the country hasn't seen since Rockefeller...besides, if you want a strong unix base, just go for linux/bsd/solaris or something, and if you need your UI-bling fix, there's always compiz and thousands of other theming options to choose from...

This is true, I sell contracts for cell phones at Wal-mart and we have a meeting tomorrow teaching about the iPhone. I know I have no credibility on digg to show I'm not lying, but if you believe me show up on the 28th and I'll sell you one. But I just want to know when we'll be selling the HTC G1 with Google Android. hopefully for AT&T.

Regardless, next year I'll be rocking a N97 - and your iPhone still will not have copy+paste or be able to take a simple video.

Verizon would ruin the iPhone.

Um... what? The first line of iPod Classics were $250/$350 for 80GB/160GB. The recent refresh had them solidifying the line with only a 120GB model, but at the $250 price point. So... 40GB more for the same price. They just no longer have a $350 model.
