Anyway, while I do agree that he toned down some of his raunchier sketches because of the Tonight Show's history and his own free will, my point is that it's this fact which alienated his core audience that came over from Late Night and caused less-than-stellar ratings. Yet when the whole thing with him and Leno blew up, his ratings had a huge boost. CoCo let his claws show in those final episodes, and it paid off.
