zeropaid.com— Points out that "Many computers can be connected to the Internet with identical IP addresses as long as they remain behind control points such as routers, firewalls, proxy servers, or similar technologies."

i'm a musician, play in a band, have released music, and I tell you we make no money off of CDs anyway based on standard record label contracts -- I'm happy if people download my music for free, because they're more likely to come to a concert, buy a t-shirt, etc., of which most musicians get WAY more profit out of, and to turn others onto it if they dig it. I myself buy the CD if I download it and like it, in order to help Soundscan numbers because those are also important in securing deals, etc., but if you go to concerts/buy t-shirts, that's how you really support musicians. Buying CDs more supports labels/lawyers -- we only get 13% of Cd sales anyway, and that's after we pay back all the recoupable debt, so it's s**t anyway. so download on! but go to shows or spread the word.
This has nothing to do with "employing networking professionals". Even if the school used NAT, logging would be trivial and would allow the network administrators to know exactly who had what IP, and when. UTK goes out of its way to bend over for people like the RIAA. Plus their CS program is so bad, they couldn't even get accreditation. The Electrical and Computer Engineering department absorbed them out of pity.
And what will the people and government do when they find out that the RIAA is intentionally spreading malware? Their public image is already pretty bad, something like that could destroy them.
