twitchguru.com — The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) began storming North American households with graphics capabilities 20 years ago that were well beyond the capabilities of other consoles of that era. The games were fun to play and Nintendo was essentially printing money with its new console.

Wow, I can't believe this piece of flame bait made front page. Firstly it's not complete. besides the skip over the SNES, (Which imho has been the best Nintendo console to date, and probably why they had nothing to bash on it), it doesn't mention the fact that they started as a playing card company, and had the brilliance (and money) to bring console gaming to the masses, inexpensively. If it wasn't for the initial Sony/Nintendo talks about adding a CD-ROM to the SNES we would have never seen Sony break out and make the PlayStation, which was a great console in it's own right. This article is simply proof that you can't trust just any old websource for fair and balanced journalism. This is editorial in the guise of Journalism, an immature way to slam.

PSSST, hey come over here... ok now that you are listening I have a little secret to tell you.The Revolution has not been released yet.

@ivancitoWhile that covers the beginnings of Nintendo, it's somewhat lacking as it stops at 1990.

Something interesting that nobody has mentioned yet about cartidges and even the small size CD for the gamecube: LOAD TIMESI had an X-Box, but HATED how long it took to load games and levels. Same goes for the PS and PS 2 (although, I didn't own a PS or PS2, just played them).I love how quickly cartridges load as well as the small CDs for the Gamecube. I don't really care about seeing a cinematic cut-scene that requires a full-sized CD to hold. After you watch it once, you skip it every time. Waste of time and space, IMHO. Just get me playing the game as quickly as possible.Bring back cartridges, I say... :)

dogbyte_13Dec 12, 2005
Not a complete history!! oh and BTW the TurboGraphix CD drive was like $499 back in the day and had like 10 games here in the states, but i sure would have given up a organ for that Turbo Graphix 16 portable back in the day yet again $299 was alot of money.

Bah! this article is so inaccurate. It didnt even mention the SNES. What I really cant stand is that I wasted my time reading this article. I should have known better. NO DIGG

No Game & Watch? No TV Games 6?No Playing cards? That article doesn't show Nintendo's entire history.

Whoever dug this, please undigg and get this rubbish of the front page. It not not a complete history, it is not even a history, the title of the original article is misleading since the author focuses on "failures" and doesn't mention all of them. Meh.

What about duck hunt? Or the old running pads? Those were sweet! This article is heavily biased...and hardly mentions anything great Nintendo has done. The N64 was an amazing console...I know I still play mine all the time.
doctornkulDec 27, 2005
The writer of this article is totally biased cuz he doesn't say anything about great things nintendo has done
