5thirtyone.com— The online project management scene just received a new entrant - Webreakstuff's Goplan. How do the basic plans offered by Basecamp, Goplan, and activeCollab compare for project managers?

The time-tracking feature in Basecamp sucks anyway - It lacks the capability to separate time into 'billable' and 'non-billable' hours. You end up having to use Harvest along with Basecamp.
We're definitely listening to this kind of feedback. We also do realize the importance of "time tracking", but we want to make project management easy and nail that down now, and we'll definitely tackle that problem next. Thanks for the opinion, we do appreciate it.
I've been mucking with activeCollab for a little while. We do security assessments and a hosted project management solution wouldn't fly for most of our customers. We used phpCollab 2-3 years ago. It completely rocked, but the main developer quit and it never picked up any steam after that. There were a few forks (e.g. netOffice) but they just didn't have the same fit and finish that phpCollab did. That kind of thing makes me a little nervous about activeCollab, but it appears to have achieved critical mass, and the author appears to be planning on backing it with a corporation, which hopefully will give it some funding for constant development and improvement.Time tracking and expense reporting are two huge things for us that i've rarely seen done well outside of the 'Professional Services Automation' market, which ask $30+ per head per month. Kind of steep for small firms.
My little pet project at http://www.clockingit.com is also a nice alternative. No fees at all, and just about all the features of the ones reviewed here (including time tracking).I've got Subversion integration running privately already, but I guess that won't be much of an issue before I open up the source and let people host it themselves.
I'd agree with that and add to it. I find it great for my simple one-man-shop needs so slightly frustrated that its in the $50 / month plan.. much more than one-man-shop in most ways.
Frankly, I cancelled my basecamp account. It turned out to be a collaboration tool, not a project management one. It didn't even have Gantt charts! I checked a couple of apps and finally settled with wrike (www.wrike.com). In wrike you manage and create you tasks sending emails. Very handy!
Hey i used Basecamp and Active Collab for a long time. But now i have start using the online project management software -proofhub.Proofhub is loaded with amazing tools to manage projects like post milestones, share files, track time spent on tasks, proofing tool and real-time chat.Check it out @www.proofhub.com

FYI: The new boy lacks time tracking which is a major feature of Basecamp when you get the $50 / month level.

Also be sure to check out OnStage - http://www.chmuraecon.com/OnStage/. We just started using this service. I liked it a little better than goplan.
