jalopnik.com— It's official -- Michael Bay has now killed the new Transformers movie for me. Optimus Prime should not have lips -- period.

Why would they even bother to spend the time on giving him lips, he never had them it the actual series that anyone who was a fan of watched as a kid, he doesn't need them in the movie. Just another hollywood blunder where they has lost touch with the people and the product they are producing. That being said it's not going to stop me from going to see the movie, and I hope that the movie companies read this and then say ummmmm we need to take out his lips, NOW.Other than that my hopes are high that this movie will be spectacular and the movie to beat this summer. my prediction is the largest grossing movie of 2007 and possibly the largest grossing movie weekend ever!!!!!hope I don't eat those words
I agree that organic-looking lips are a tad weird in a live action movie(some blatantly mechanical 'lips' would be preferable..), but if I could overlook it in the cartoon, I guess I can in the movie. Because..hey...its FANTASY.Side note: Did anyone catch Starscream when he flies under the bridge and transforms MID-AIR to catch & fling himself onto it? Tres cool.
I don't have a problem with Prime not looking like the G1 cartoon, I just think the lips look flat out stupid. Actually it looks more like a bird's beak. I think Bay has a thing with birds, he also made starscream look like a freakin' chicken.
I love Transformers, my kids love Transformers, I saw the original movie in the theater and you know what, I don't care if Prime has lips. If you don't like it do not see the movie, if you care that much than the movie is not for you. To hear some of the crazy people talk about this movie I am surprised I haven't heard about a mass amount of people jumping off buildings and blowing their heads off because the movie isn't exactly like they would have made it (even though no one has even seen it yet). I guess it is just like every other thing on the net the vocal minority clogs up the tubes because they have nothing else constructive to do.
hey its not the first time optimus had lips, remember the beast wars series? He had lips there as well as the mouth plate when in battle mode. I'd assume they are following the same principle as the robots have a battle mode in the movie. I'm a die-hard transformers fanboy but its not the first time this has happened nor the last. I would rather be more worried about the optimus prime portrayed in the movie against the original cartoon series.
I wasnt big on Transformers as in I never did follow it well to notice that Optimus Prime's facial features were nothing similar to what it was in the cartoon. Now I am assuming I will be one among the majority of the moviegoers for this movie and as one of those people let me just say that the lips didnt bother me much at all. What I am more worried about is how Bay is going to treat the script.

Tiny? They might be on a giant robot but look again, next to a person those things could still eat your head. I don't consider that very tiny...
