timesonline.co.uk — THE internet could soon be made obsolete. The scientists who pioneered it have now built a lightning-fast replacement capable of downloading entire feature films within seconds. At speeds about 10,000 times faster than a typical broadband connection, “the grid”

I think you guys all forget that:ARPANET the first tcp/ip intranet was made operational in 1983.ARPANET was private until 1985 until an NSF grant provided access to select universities.ARPANET was then commercially available via UUNET, PSINET and CERFNET in 1989CERN publicized it's World Wide Web Project in August 1991.If this is already implemented in universities it looks like we only have 5 or 6 years before it comes here. No doubt it will be pricey, but you must also consider the outrageous demand there will be. In 1991 most people had only "heard" of the Internet let alone experienced it. Now telecommunication has become a much more ingrained part of global society. Everyone and their dog will want it, so it may reach us even sooner than can be expected.I for one welcome our new grid shaped masters.

I look forward to connecting the flash from camera/camcorder through the Internet and saving it onto a server somewhere. This would eliminate a hardrive. My wording was not so detailed above!

How fast will be "enough" ??I was recently reading a article about the broadband marked in Denmark. Currently the electricity suppliers are spending huge amounts of money on building a fiber net infrastructure. How much are we willing to pay for faster internet, and when will the broadband be wide enough?Link to the Danish article: http://www.sammenlignbredbaand.dk
