Yeah may be slow but if we had something like this in the WTC there would have been a lot more survivors. This is a great idea and is better than what is currently in place now.... Nothing! For what its worth, unless you witnessed first hand the tradgedy at the WTC on 9/11, this device would have saved alot of my friends
Major problem with this designThe lift stops on each floor as it descends (to allow people in the bottom carriage to get out) What happens when the lift is full, and there are people desperate to get on?I wouldn't much fancy being in a full lift with fabric walls with terrified people trying to force their way on, at every single floor
I'm with you. Stop talking about extreme heat and structural damage. Nothing of that happened in WTC! Scientists proved it! Demolition! Bombs! Explosives! Read on it, or watch videos on it.
Ridiculous. I live in NYC, and pretty much ALL the tall buildings have windows that do NOT open.If they did, the owners would have to pay a lot more in insurance, and they are not about to do that any time soon. Anyhow, this is mostly just a response to those who still believe that the 9-11 attacks were done by some 'foreign' -terrorists.....seems like a much bigger, unknown threat...but if you understand who really did them, the idea/fear of a constant, unknown threat is not so big.So you don't have this big 'fear' all the time, as the white house would like you to have. Have you seen the movie 'loose change"? Available streaming, on google videos. If you wanna end terrorism, get rid of Bush! We don't need no ignorant stupid technologies by those who would profit from the ignorance and propaganda! And F*ck Neil Young, with his stupid, and well-timed song 'let's roll'...playing right into the hands of the bush propaganda-ists! fagg-bitch!
IF you look at the animated clip on the company web-site, it shows a railing system on the side of the building and something that appears to be brakes on the device.

Thats a great idea. I wonder if existing buildings can be retro-fitted to support it?
