The main reason they don't allow phones is fear of it being used as a remote bomb trigger. They have proved they do not interfere. and if they did, they could put antennas on the plane to keep them in lowest power transmit. This last week, they asked you too put your phone in airplane mode before we took off.

so they're afraid of someone who remotely triggers a bomb on ground while on a plain?c'mon - they're worried about bombs, not triggers, and i really doubt terrorists give a s**t about "turn off your cellphones" - announcements.
