And yes that was taking it to an extreme example, and it looks like it made at least a bit of an impact.

I was merely agreeing with the poster above that even though you say the contrary you are in fact using gore as a straw man (as hominem means to attack the person, not the ideals) which by claiming that he has supposed followers (learn the difference between parody and reality on the goracle), and crying out to denounce gore, is in fact attacking the person. And that your statement about fox was implying ad populum, regardless of what you say. You do realize that in the same paragraph you bash communism and socialism, and bash gore for being a total self interest capitalist, and making money on the climate scare.What scientist gains "power" from agreeing with every other scientist about global warming? You obviously have no idea how science works. It is in fact the opposite that is true. When a scientist publishes something that is different then others, he will get cited more (which is a common way to measure a scientists worth). So agreeing with everyone else actually reduces their worth, by not being able to stand out from the herd. And no, scientists are not pure, but the scientific method is.
