Well-intentioned government regulations drive up prices. You can't provide certain health services unless you are licensed as a doctor. This is not freedom. This also drives up prices since licensed doctors get a monopoly on providing the most needed medical services. Ron Paul has said he wants to remove government regulations that prevent people from providing medical services/products freely. Even though he is a medical doctor, and he enjoys the benefits of the monopoly government regulations give him, he supports deregulation.
Except you might see a name on a package and not realize that most all of our produce is controlled by a few umbrella companies. They almost always own what you think is the competition now. It's sort of the difference between choosing Coke or Pepsi. Good luck finding something that isn't owned by either.
