blog.chadohman.com — This is a sure fire way to clean your beloved Mighty Mouse you spent $50 for. I think we all have this same issue, the scroll ball will work great for 2-4 months, and then one day, you can no longer scroll down!

There's no such thing as a beloved Mighty Mouse. No one likes them. People either tolerate their Mighty Mouse or they lie.

You can put two fingers on the trackpad and click to right click now. It's also irrelevant because OS X is built around one mouse button as are most apps for it. For everything else, you can plug is a $20 USB mouse with all the buttons you want.

I am the only one who absolutely hates the Mighty Mouse? I've used it at the Apple store a few times, and every time I have, the mouse was wildly innacurate as guessing what I wanted it to do.

I don't have a problem with the mouse itself, I'd probably have one if I found it superior to any other two-button mouse, but it's not. I'm trying to think about the number of times I've EVER had to clean a scroll wheel on any of my mice and can't think of any. I would consider that a design flaw, wouldn't you?

Get a new mouse because there's some dirt in the old one? That's just stupid; and you'll need to wait for the new one to come.

Thank-you for the post. I have had this scroll problem with both my ill-named Mighty Mice just a couple months after I bought them. So far as I know, this is a terrible product. However, if Apple's cleaning tips that the article provides a link to work, I will be pretty happy. If I have to get sadistic on it with jackknives and jeweler's screwdrivers then I am going to be pretty upset. As matters stand for me at the moment, Apple does not really give you any mouse wheel when you buy a Mighty Mouse for $50 or whatever it costs, they just sort of "loan" you one for a couple of months. They should pay an intern just to stand in the office of the guy who designed the mouseball mechanism for Mighty Mouse and glare at him all day. Or let customers drop by and do it.

Or, y'know, just keep making them will poor scroll wheels since people keep buying them. Afterall, a business' job is to make money.
