arstechnica.com — The online movie download market may have gotten a bit more interesting today. Universal Pictures and CinemaNow announced that "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" will be available for download and burning to DVD on the same day as the DVD is released in stores

Dont they understand?Just offer the full movie, full quality, no DRM, and at a reasonable price and we WILL BUY THEM. WTF is so hard to understand about that?I would MUCH rather go yo a site, pay $5 and download a DVD without the hassle of p2p, torrents, usenet, or whatever other means. Either make us happy, or you will never win. It's not like we are asking for a lot ya know, just fair service.

Nothing in the world will get a bit more interesting as long as "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" is involved.

@Bokista - Can you please tell me where you can purchase a movie on the first day of release for $9.99? I usually pay around $14-$15.

There would defnately need to be clearly stated hardware requirements for that, as older systems would not be able to decode h.264 "on the fly" but could certainly download and convert then burn if HD space was available.I think the valid point was price for product. I would gladly pay 4-10 bucks for a download and burn, compared to 3 for a few days rental, or 14 for full original in cover.

Yeah as much as I have no desire to see Fast and the Furious 3, its nice that the movie folks are pulling their heads from their asses to find that technology of this sort is good not a hindrance. Welcome to the Internet, your about 5 years or so late.

i dont think they will have a clear results on how well its going to work becuse no one is going to buy the dvd or the download for this s**ty ass movie. the second one wasnt crappy enouge so they had to make a 3rd one

Burn it yourself? This makes me think they are offering a craptastic compressed 4.7 GB version to fit on your DVD+R.I think instead I will choose non-crappy movies from netflix and burn those instead. Much cheaper.

I was referring to the other movies on CinemaNow's list.
