Sorry rationalist, but when you provide legal protections for religions and tax exemption, you need to be able to prove that it's a legitimate religion and not a business parading as one. Besides, cults are dangerous not only to individuals but the government as well. Look at Waco and all the other problems we've had over the years. No religion should include secrecy or be based on money. Scientology fails both.
No I am saying that for thousands of years the church has been selling status. I don't buy into scientology all that much but the way I see it, every year millions of people do things in the name of religion be it wear certain items of clothing, buy certain books, eat certain foods, kill certain things, etc. A lot of them also spend money on religion and live their lives in accordance to religion. I say fair play to all of them but if a person of a different religion one day lost faith and decided to sue for all the items they have purchased and for emotional distress it would get laughed out of court. Imagine a murderer suing church for emotional distress because he spent years thinking he was going to hell. Or something along them lines. For all we know, Scientology could be real and who is anyone to say it faker than christianity?
While I think that the church of Scientology is beyond ridiculous, this lady sounds really stupid. Anyone who is dumb enough to be pressured by these idiots deserves what they get. We need to take the bubble wrap off of America. Tough break lady, you are a moron. Hopefully you got to keep the elctrometre. Sorry you fell for a relegion based on the writings of science-fiction writer. Maybe the mothership will come and take Tom Cruise and the rest of the follwers of this laughable cult back to Lord Xenu. I hope they leave Beck though.

People don't need religion to be moral...That is just an excuse they perpetuate so they can get more children to brainwash.

Scientology is like the mob, but not as warm and fuzzy.
