"China has the capability to penetrate poorly protected U.S. computer systems and potentially could use CNA [computer network attacks] to attack specific U.S. civilian and military infrastructures."So? The US has a similar capability, perhaps even more advanced that the Chinese. And the US not only engages in cyberwarfare - look at Iraq. Republicans, and even some Democrats act as if the fate of the world is on their shoulders and that they should interfere with other countries. If the US doesn't make money from a country, or if it is a possible competitor, then it is an enemy. And don't get me started on all these red-baiting, name-calling, anti-communist bulls**t.The problem with the American government is that it finds technological progress by other countries as a threat to itself. Well, everyone else views America's technological progress as a threat to the rest of the world. What's most irritating is the "preemptive strike" concept (hey let's attack China before it becomes too powerful!), like what happened to Iraq. Most Republicans trumpet stuff like "democracy" and yet the attack/invasion/slaughter/genocide in Iraq is actually an affront to democracy. What if some country says that "Hey I don't like the American government. They should be more democratic." and then proceeds to invade the continental US? That is precisely what the US did to Iraq (but of course there was also the lying about the WMD and all that). If ever this happens, horror will not be my first reaction. It will be amusement. You get what you give.
strange I check my log files today and I got 4 chinese and 1 japanese ip addresses trying to do remote logins. I found some of their choice of login names amusing, others scarry.
