shanghaiist.com— News is coming in that at least in Shanghai, you can no longer access Wikipedia. Under fire recently over the quality and accuracy of some articles, Wikipedians living in China are s**t out of luck.

your right communism is great. Let's all move to north korea or china or USSR (oh yeah that fell apart). We could turn all our property over to the state and live each according to our needs. That would be a great incentive for me to work hard.
Wikipedia is the biggest cluster of true anonymity -And then most of you idiots get pissed off because of the media filtration.Well, in this case you're spoon-feeding it to yourselves.-In this case, China got something right for a change,I would LOVE to see this entire dribble of commentaries recast ifthe USA did something like this.. The loathing, it's almost tangible.
"China is what every republican in this country dreams of; a totally free economy with the police state powers to do what you want with"larsinio, you are a retarded fat american. China doesn not have free economy, chinese economy is completely controlled by the government. China is what every democrat in USA dreams of, a country completly regulated by the government.
Haha you silly Americans, so much hate towards China! What exemplary American ignorance. I'm living in Beijing and it's pretty great here actually. Much nicer than Washington D.C. I guess it would suck knowing within 40 years China's economy will be much larger than your own, I would be bitter too. Some things that should be cleared up:1. The people who want to "overthrow" the current CCP mainly consist of college students who are unwilling to accept relatively low-wage jobs. All of them are overambitious pricks who apply for manager positions in some massive company, get rejected and cry at home because they're spoilt one-child city kids.2. The current government is doing a damn good job with it's economic growth (not development mind you); the economic model it follows is very similar to those of the "Asian Tigers" (export-driven) only on a much larger scale. Economic growth is essential to develop a nation, they can bother with freedom of speech later. 3. Democracy is a piss poor political system for a developing nation. Just look at India, the government pays millions of dollars to ask uninformed illiterates of their opinion; how efficient. A current overthrow of the government will throw 1.3 billion people into immediate chaos and that's not going to be good for the world economy. 4. If China didn't buy so many government bonds from the U.S, your trade deficit with China would have pushed you into an economic depression. 5. The "censorship" isn't too overwhelming, I get CNN and BBC at my place and The Economist every month. I think i get Fox News but it's a pretty crap news channel. Sure the farmers won't get access to CNN, but why the hell would they want to?6. People aren't pissed at the government for "clinging on to power" or from "censorship"; they're pissed because of the growing income inequality between the higher and lower income groups, and because of corrupt local authorities (though recently many have been sacked). haha didn't mean to rant, but seriously you guys should not look at China so negatively. It is YOUR government with it's current president that has a narrow-minded and antichronistic view on global politics. I agree that China's government could improve in some aspects..but no system is perfect.. And, well your government got you all excited about going on a "crusade" to Iraq to rid the world of "evil-doers".
I just accomplished a whole academic quarters worth of studying in about three hours thanks to red-bull and Wikipedia. Finals suck, but having access to wikipedia is absolutely the sh*t.Cencorship sucks ass for people who get off on that over-rated human rights and individual freedom horsesh*t. A powerhouse economy fueled by the tears of the oppressed and the blood of infanticide-victim baby girls should of course be the goal of every nation. We can power our turebines with the heat of burning pages. It really is too bad we can't burn the internet.I'm actually not that bitter that my dollar is going to be worth less than the Chinese's. I would rather stumble down a cobblestone street by my own Free Will than wear platinum shackles and be forced to march single file neatly down neat marble halls.

Out of 1.2 billion people 5 million does not seem like a lot. But it is a start.
