autoblog.com — Two days last week, Autoblog got to spend time with the Hugger Orange hued Camaro Convertible Concept that GM brought out to California, along with a few of its designers. In case you didn't realize it already, the car is stunning. Here's 52 high-res pics to prove it.

It looks like someone stuck an engine and interior in an altoids box.

Are they going to get a team of hair dressers to come up with a contemporary mullet design to go with it?.

@ happy phantom"I didn't call you names or ridicule you. I challenged you."True enough.. though anyone being a fan of American cars is deserving of ridicule IMO."If it doesn't take skill, why is everyone drag racing?"That is exactly why a ton of ppl are doing so.. including light to light etc.. no real skill involved at all..hence why you also get wannabe's flooring the gas in their lame slush box mini vans or caddy land yachts..No skill none the less."I have "owned" 600+ hp bottle-fed beasts simply on reflexes and a good choice of tires. I've got the time slips to prove it."So? My wife's lil lancer will match a viper 0-30 and it's 100% stock.. doesn't mean squat however if it's just a straight line.Same as I can thrash 500hp+ crustangs all day long w/my 240.. they simply cannot put that power to the ground and there is such thing as too much power.(which is another reason the Skyline is so amazing!)"Oh, and I neglected to mention, I'm a Bondurant formula Ford graduate."Congrats.. that puts you one up on the avg. Now lets see what good that would do you against time attack racers in Japan..or WRC drivers for that matter.. Even with the one up I'd lay $ on your having your ass handed too you esp driving a Buick.(granted you do have one of the better US cars... but it's still crap sadly)"I've literally drive circles around Porsches and 'vettes in the Bay Area."doing that to a vette is child's play.. as for a Porsche.. driver counts for allot..rule of thumb: good car + bad driver = s**t performance"Until you push 200 mph on the Kamloops bypass in BC, you got no right to diss American muscle."On the contrary I have every right since American cars are not make to do that.. unless they are severely modifiedand even if they are the reliability is still s**t.. the handling is still s**t and generally they are crap.Just from a technolical POV alone they are beyond pathetic.. still using leaf springs, a solid rear Axel, drum brakes, and the pathetic power/liter from the engines.. never mind the reliability of such.... it's a never ending list of stupidity. (Case in point.. GM starters.. same s**t since the 60's and they are still crap. Local shop near me has 60% of it's business coming from dead GM starters.. which they rebuild properly w/o GM parts and then they actually Become reliable.. and ironically the cost is 1/3 of the "rebuilt" versions and 1/8" of what the dealer charges for a new one.)Esp in stock form nothing the US has made impresses me..A prime example is the ford GT... on paper it's brilliant but in the real world it not only sucks up gas fasterthan a Lambo but it breaks down faster than any other "production" car in history. (Check out the history ofthe GT Jeremy Clarkson bought.. and then got smart and sold off). You want to see real car speed and handling.. check out a Skyline GTR Zero R edition (even stock it's seriously kick ass)or how about all the "tuned" American cars vs the stock Ariel Atom.. and they got their ass handed to them w/o anychance at all.Driving skill is actually driving.. not straight line bulls**t for the wannabe's and not the "big oval" of the Nascar morons. You want a challenge.. come on up to Ontario and you've got it.. but if you want to actually learn somethingcheck out a proper Japanese race school or Euro rally teacher.. not some sponsored ford course.I even have a vid of one race you really should see... just have to dig it out.. I'll try to find it and posta link for it here sometime later tonight or tomorrow.

@AliarseFor American cars, they're called "racing stripes" and came from automotive racing. At one time they were used to signify on what side of the car the driver was positioned in the case of a wreck. That way, rescue crews could quickly and efficiently get the driver out before he burned to death. That was only one of their uses. The racing stripes are a throw back and acknowledgment of the race car heritage these cars come from.

I've seen this concept car in person a half-dozen ti9mes now, and it never gets old. They really finished it off nice! I'm anxious to see the production convertibles out on the street!
