thinkprogress.org — Yesterday, Cheney appeared as a guest on Rush Limbaugh and stumped for retroactive immunity for telecom companies that illegally spied on American citizens: "It?s a program that?s been very well managed. We haven?t violated anybody?s civil liberties."

"Dollars aint worth s**t thanks to dick."You're giving him far too much credit. Our dollar is crashing because of a reckless borrowing and spending that has spanned decades. On the one side, Republicans nurture and feed their Military-Industrial Complex. And on the other, Democrats seed and grow their Welfare State. It's a one-two punch with no sense of fiscal responsibility.

Seems to me to be more along the lines of 1984 double speak...

There's no such thing as civil liberties or rights, there are Constitutional rights, which are inalienable, granted by our maker.AKA, rights worded in such a way to say that they are rights which transcend the authority of government, as such are not within the power of government to be taken away. Sadly government does it anyways.

Let's play out your little fantasy game...spell out for me precisely what violation of the law (note, the LAW, not your delicate leftist sensibilities) you believe justifies this?

thats because in his mind, its all justified under the Patriot Act where civil liberties are non-existent

I video tape the police whenever I am stopped in my car, and have never had a problem. I don't want to fly on a plane with people who belong on the TSA No-Fly list. Only people who reside in America get civil rights from the American government - which is why terrorists caught in foreign countries are not brought to America, they are brought to Guantanamo Bay Cuba. Unfortunately for the people at Guantanamo the countries where we pick them up from don't have the same civil rights laws, so we follow their less restrictive laws. A Free Speech Zone is not as bad as you make it sound. The problem is during various protests the protesters sometimes have trouble keeping their hands and feet to themselves - which isn't free speech at all. Stop physically attacking the people you are protesting and you won't have to be kept in a little pen. f**king control yourselves. I really don't see any of your statements as valid points

The government has the right to intercept the phone calls of anyone involved in criminal activity with a warrantThe government has the right to intercept phone calls between suspected terrorists overseas and people in the US. You don't have a right to make phone calls to terrorists. There was a question about the legality of this and a law was created to make sure it was legal. There is an argument that the constitution bans this as unlawful search, but the constitution also gives you the right to free speech even though you aren't allowed to yell "bomb!" on a plane. I'm betting the supreme court will say that the law authorizing listening in to phone calls from terrorists to Americans is within the Government's right - so still there is no violation. Just because the equipment exists doesn't mean it is used to listen in to you ordering a pizza or calling your phone sex hot lines.
