huffingtonpost.com — Dick Cheney rarely takes a position that places him at a more progressive tilt than President Obama. But on Monday, the former vice president did just that, saying that he supports gay marriage as long as it is deemed legal by state and not federal government.

Wow the anti-civil rights bigots are losing support left and right. First Rick "homosexuals are pedophiles" Warren jumped ship now Dick Cheney. Don't get me wrong Dick Cheney is an evil bastard, but he's a smart evil bastard. He sees which way the wind's blowing.

That's great and all, but something about this statement: "As many of you know, one of my daughters is gay and it is something we have lived with for a long time in our family."Makes it sound like their daughter is some cancerous force in their family structure or something.Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

This is what makes you conclude that he has no values? Not his stance on torture or any of the other completely f**ked up things he pulled while he was in office but this? Who's moral compass is off kilter here?

^^ If you think marriage should exist for the purpose of fostering a family, that's fine too, but then one can argue that biologically, it should be restricted to those people who are going to create families (man and wife). That's a dicey issue because then you have people who want gays and lesbians to adopt/conceive and what about the men and women who are infertile and those that don't want to have children, should they be excluded? If you try to justify the government endorsement of couples and "families", you are quickly going to wind up in a logical loop that sees discrimination against nearly everyone to be for the "public good". This is not the type of problem you fix by creating others, that's the reason we're here in the first place.

Actually the reason the govenment doesn't want gays to get married is because marriage is something they created because straight people are bad with money... I mean all of our presidents have been straight, and just look at the financial mess we got into. Straights need the benefit cause lets face it, they suck with money.

So basically you're saying that my sister, who is gay. who has been with the same person for the last 9 years, has 4 children(1 insemination, 3 adopted special needs kids) does not deserve to file jointly? She is raising 4 kids, and contributing to society. How many people have unwanted kids and put them up for adoption? How many people are horrible parents and have their kids taken away? Just because they may not produce offspring with the genes of both parents does not mean they can now have a family. Your religious views are blinding you to the real world. marriage from a religious sense is a man and a woman, marriage in a legal sense is 2 adults forming a family. they should get every tax break any other married couple receives.

lmfao... Dick Cheney in support of Gay Marriage= Proof positive that a blind, deaf, mute, paraplegic squirrel can still find the occassional acorn. I wonder what his thoughts would have been BEFORE he realized he still loved his daughter after she came out.
