Of course you are capable of caring for more than one person. This has nothing to do with programming and everything to do with personal values and opinions. Have as many partners as you like, just don't lie about it to the people who would care if they knew about it. In deceit, that's where the line is crossed.
It's because Americans are morons who don't know how to prioritise so they take whatever is in the news as the worst possible taboo, which right now is affairs!
First, I think we link 'lying' and 'cheating' as a society. Second, I think that rather than being a hypocritical condemnation people consider cheating such a big taboo BECAUSE it is 'more likely' to affect them personally than abortion or the death penalty. Cheating is a basic, common, and obvious betrayal of trust that many people actually FEAR. I think that the fact that so many people consider it to be a forgivable offense more surprising than the fact that it is considered a moral taboo in the first place. Perhaps this is also indicative of the fact that cheating seems to common - no one wants it to happen to them so they label it as 'wrong' and yet, they know they might to it so they also label it as 'forgivable'.

Well you can't call it cheating if it's not an exclusive relationship. So I have no idea what you're talking about.
