ftalphaville.ft.com— Check out this amazing chart on the dollar's value over the years. It is very telling of where we're at versus years past. Extremely interesting!

Let the dollar fall. That means "Made in USA" will soon be the norm. More factory jobs for "the poor". If it falls below the peso then the Mexican immigration problem will solve itself. Maybe the US should start migrating into Mexico. I wonder if that would motivate the Mexican government on border security ....?
Yeah, ScionAltera's got the right idea by using pesos. Make it even easier on yourself though, don't bother converting ahead of time. Go to an ATM once you get to Mexico and withdraw pesos. The service charge is nominal and the convenience far outweighs the couple of dollars you'll pay. This is what I did whenever I went to Mexico to visit my family (they retired there a few years back). BTW, the exchange rate between Canadian dollar and Mexican pesos hasn't altered that much (it's been trading above 10 pesos to the Canadian dollar for the past couple of years, and right now is about 11.6 pesos to the dollar).
Well stated. I don't really know a lot about economics, but it seems pretty obvious that we can't live beyond our means and continue to accumulate debt forever. There's probably no easy way to make a transition from being an economy that depends so much on people putting themselves into debt buying useless stuff they don't need, but eventually it's going to have to happen.

Stop whining, us Canadians endured that for a much longer period. Ours was at 55% of what it is now for a long time.
