blogs.computerworld.com — Denver International Airport is the biggest in the world to offer free Wi-Fi. But now a Denver newspaper reports that the connection is censored. The airport actually blocks blogs like BoingBoing and other "potentially racy sites."

Putergirl is right. It was your money before it was taxed. Then it became the government's money. Due to the way Federal money is sloshed around, there is no accountability for how it is spent. Will you vote out your local representative because Denver's airport has censorship on it's wifi? I doubt it. No accountability = no pressure = the government agencies can do what they want. Another big downside of massive federal spending.

Problem is, that if I sue a guy because he was watching pr0n with my kid next to him I won't get any money 'cause he's poor like me. The City of Denver, however, has deep pockets that I can plunder. It's the same reason people can sue a bar or a liquor store for a drunk driver, or a handgun manufacturer for a fatal shooting.

Certainly, it's their service and they can serve it however they like. With that understanding, you can use it or not use it - your choice. But, seriously, "potentially racy" equal exactly what? Interesting? Please. It's time for a large part of the human species to grow up. At any rate, there's a plethora of workarounds to such censorship so, the net effect of blocking sites for those users who are savvy enough to read sites such as BoingBoing and other "racy" sites and who can also figure out the workarounds is exactly zero. It's the immature that wouldn't want to look at such interesting sites anyway and the site blocking will have little to no effect on their browsing habits either. Meaning, the blocking is for the inexperienced and stupid who accidentally stumble on things they couldn't or wouldn't understand.

You know, Hotspot Shield allows you to bypass the 'censorship' part and it secures your wifi.
