helldeskforum.com — It's terrible to see a good site fall because of censorship. It can happen anywhere because of spammers or trolls, but who knew that it would happen this way to Digg. Get this to the front page; make our opinions known. There have been far more questionable stories here than this.

Maybe this will ultimately be good for Digg. When I say "Digg", read "me". If all these people that are spamming actually do leave Digg, I won't have to put up with any of their submitted stories or comments, which based on their current postings, I feel like I won't miss. Then I can focus on what I assume to be the silent majority.Digg doesn't censor comments unless they those comments, which are hosted on their hardware, expose them to risk. Sure, other sites have the numbers on them, but if Digg wants to limit their liabilities, I understand.Until these people posting start installing Apache or IIS on their computers and exposing themselves to risk, people just need to grow up. It's easy to say Digg should stand up to the man and fight and "not bend over", but why should they? They don't have the resources to fight the backers of HD-DVD. Even if they wanted to take a stance because they felt they should, that's a hell of a risk and the higher ups would be putting a lot of investors and workers at risk. That would be irresponsible.I, for one, will continue to read Digg. I will wade through these spam stories for the next few days, because I know they will eventually fade and the Digg that I love will rise again. If they lose a few readers, I hope they know that the vast majority of their users are loyal and will remain loyal to this site.

Blu3berryYumYum: Um, yes, MS has given Digg money. They've sponsored more than a couple DiggNation episodes with Zune ads. It probably didn't get taken down because MS didn't threaten Digg with legal action, where HD-DVD may very well have.

RiAA and MPAA, please embrace the innovations for the people like providing a legal movie and mudic downloads through Ipod and Apple TV. Innovate or eat dust, MPAA and RIAA. Come on, this is 21 century. Cry aloud with your voices, people. Boycott their products if you want to get their attention. Look at the aliens from outer space. They already have embraced the innovations on their home planets. Why did not we, human beings do the same thing? Think about it, folks. Do it for Technological and political freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go for it!!!!!!!!!! Whooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! The geeks say: "THIS IS 21ST CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" as they rushed toward RIAA and MPAA and pushed them into digital bottomless pit.

Well, this is what happens when children don't get the attention they want. So cute isn't it?
chrismgtisMay 2, 2007
A bunch of children aren't they. They just want attention. All they get in the end is blocked by most Diggers.

I don't know the full story about the sponsorships... I suppose because that haven't said that was the reason themselves. What I do know though is that most hosting companies, including the biggest ones have terms that state you can't even link to certain materials, even if linking to them isn't illegal. It's their servers, they can set whatever rules they want to on them. In your own house I'm pretty sure you can legally tell people to shut up or get out. They don't have to completely shut up, only in your house. This is digg's house so they can do what they want. If DIGG was owned by the government though, censorship may be breaking laws.
