The current bid is at $1,525 but it's not clear from the listing just what that gets you. It could be the first position in line, if and when Maxton gets its Volts, but we can't say for sure.

It's not uncommon for luxury car dealers to take deposits a year in advance (Ferrari often has multi-year wait lists). If there is a huge demand for the Volt, which is likely, especially considering that supply will likely be limited due to complex manufacturing, then I don't see anything wrong with this.
