If it knows that the dog is required to play submissive by the owner, then it's smart, and knows it can do what it wants. I think it's a dumb cat if it thinks it can take that dog. One bite from that dog and it's gone. If they get caught in a fight, the cat could never really kill the dog. It could badly injure it if the dog is mentally retarded. But the dog could give a clean bite to the spine, ending all nine lives in an instant.
