Im sure cervical cancer can be caused by something else other than just that one virus. The virus is just the leading cause of cervical cancer.

MikeCampo - I am in agreement against your frivilous apostrophe usage. You are wrong and we are all worse off for it.TIP - If you do not know when to use an apostrophe, chances are you do not need one.

NO MORE GENITAL WARTS! In addition to protecting against cervical cancer, the Merck vaccine is effective against serotypes 6 and 11, responsible for 90% of genital wart cases. http://tinyurl.com/zt88d

hmm...prevention...I am hesitant to believe cancer "prevention" claims simply because there is no way to really verify that the prevented cancer would've started in the first place, at least not scientifically...but then again if the tested groups contract it less often or not at all compared to the control groups, it's still a great find. On the other hand, while it "prevents" cancer, does cause something else to happen? Usually there's some trade off for things like this...though not necessarily. Def newsworthy though.

Agreed. How many vaccines do kids get during their youth with some strange acronym...how will this be any different? Give em' the vaccine. Done. No worries. They will be protected against a certain few types of HPV. It is asinine to say that this vaccine will cause young people to be more sexually active. Completely ignorant and sexist. And disappointing.

I don't believe. Cancer still dangerous. And cost of drug is very expensive. http://www.cancercarelaw.org/cancer-drug-cost.php

All cancers aren't the same. And from what I know most are not caused by a virus so therefore no vaccine. Some have hereditary factors and some are still a mystery. You can find very much material on http://www.dailycancernews.com

Dr. Andrew Parsa, a University of California at San Fransisco (UCSF) neurological surgeon who is leading the study of the vaccine, called Oncophage, with $150,000 in funding from the National Brain Tumor Society and other patient groups and another $150,000 from the federal government. Dr. Parsa is testing that theory with a ground-breaking clinical trial at UCSF Medical Center. Working with a biotech company, his team used a piece of Wheatley's tumor, to create a vaccine engineered to target specific cancer. A woman Joyce Wheatley became the first in the country to try a new vaccine to stop a brain tumor from reoccurring. The idea is to combine the tumor vaccine early, while the cancer is being weakened by chemotherapy and radiation. The hope is patients will then be able to manage the disease using their own immune system.http://blog.aadautech.com/
