Arts programs can be enjoyed by the general population, but if I download a song it's only for my benefit. We shouldn't all have to subsidise that in my opinion.
But it will $5 for movies, $5 for TV shows, $5 for software, $5 for online news, $5 for online books, and on and on. If people want to voluntarily pay a flat fee, so be it. But when you use the coercive power of taxation to generate a revenue stream for a private business, well, I have to take issue with that.

No, it would be a good idea if it was voluntary. It's not. It's using coercion to transfer money from one group to another.

I've got a better idea- I keep my five bucks and canadian recording artists and everyone else who thinks this is a good idea go f**k themselves.
