I'm just glad we don't sugar-coat obesity here. It is not beautiful, it is not normal, it is not healthy; we treat it as a health problem like any other.
I'm not arguing that there aren't cases where people are naturally larger than others, and to those in that category, I'm not trying to offend.My point is that this problem is most prevailent in North America, where (as cliffzdude said) we conveniently have more fast food, and less labor intensive lifestyles than just about anywhere else in the world. I do believe a large portion of those who are overweight would be in better condition if they put some effort into it, rather than looking for excuses.
