chicagotribune.com — The country's 1.2 million square miles of trees -- dubbed the "lungs of the planet" by ecologists because they account for more than 7 percent of Earth's total forest lands -- could always be depended upon to suck in vast quantities of carbon dioxide, cleansing the world of much of the harmful heat-trapping gas. Not anymore.

A friend of mine once told me a ridiculous solution to this problemGrow the forest so it sucks up some CO2, cut it down, load the timber into a spaceship and fire it into the sun, plant new trees, repeat

The pine beetle is a very large contributor. The beetles are a problem because winters are not cold enough to kill them off anymore, which is caused by human practices causing global warming.Compare these graphs from way back in 2004 and 2005.<a class="user" href="http://www.bcbudget.gov.bc.ca/2005_Sept_Update/bfp/img/bgt2005u_p1_tb_beetle1.gif">http://www.bcbudget.gov.bc.ca/2005_Sept_Update/bfp ...</a><a class="user" href="http://www.pc.gc.ca/apprendre-learn/prof/sub/mpb-ddp/images/1-5.jpg">http://www.pc.gc.ca/apprendre-learn/prof/sub/mpb-d ...</a><a class="user" href="http://digg.com/world_news/Mountain_pine_beetles_are_expected_to_wipe_out_80_per_cent_o">http://digg.com/world_news/Mountain_pine_beetles_a ...</a>

My god your feebleminded. I'll make this as simple as I can in order to avoid confusing you further. "So your method of argumentation is to answer a question with a question. Can you say juvenile?"I hope you realize that in all of your responses here you've written only one sentence that was not a question. You've made absolutely no arguments yourself. Instead you've simply repeatedly questioned mine. Although I do find it humorous, it doesn't really lead to an interesting discussion. There was a sentence following the facetious question you are referring to that clearly answered your inquiry. "So let me ask you again, do you often make arguments against positions that others do not make?"I've made no arguments about any position of yours as your response stated no position whatsoever. My comments were an elaboration on MY previous assertion where I stated, "I don't think there is a single thing that exists on this planet that some enviro-wacko hasn't tried to suggest is causing a climate crisis." Still confused? I don't know how to make it any simpler for you. Perhaps if we were in the same room I could rewrite it in crayon and draw you some simple pictures."So can you please provide evidence using peer reviewed evidence that leftist are gullible in regards to geophysics."This is one of the single stupidest responses I've witnessed here on dig. I'm sorry. I can't provide you with "evidence using peer reviewed evidence" (that's quite a redundant question you've assembled there). My statement is what us grown-ups call an opinion. Feel free to google it. I could certainly give you a countless amount of anecdotal evidence that has led me to form this opinion about the gullibility of leftists. However, as yet, I'm unaware of any scientific studies that have been performed on this topic. I'll keep an eye out though. This discussion is hilariously stupid, but immensely entertaining. Any other questions I can answer over and over again for you?
