blogs.chron.com — When you unbox a brand new computer, you presume that it's lean, clean and pristine, right? The last thing you expect to find on a new system is malware. However, that's one of the first things researchers at Kaspersky Labs found after purchasing and firing up a Companion Touch netbook.

Lots of people do that. I have built a room, but not a whole house. I don't have the cash for a project like that or I probably would.

Yeah I ALWAYS did a clean install for friends who wanted to buy name brand systems over building one themselves. They were always amazed at how much faster their systems were afterwards. Name brand systems ship with all kinds of crap installed you will never use which includes malware.

Hp has always been guilty of this malware bulls**t. I remember gutting my very 1st PC when I was 13.

@ phluxual, RE: "... Don't download from or surf retardedly suspicious sites and you wont fill your boots with malware and the like."But if you use Linux (or Mac OSX) you CAN go to as many "suspicious" (and luscious) sites as you want to, and you will STILL not get any malware...You have FREEDOM to surf wherever you wish...

mrBitch: They'll start bundling their own s**t on those, too, soon.Always safer to do a clean install yourself, regardless of the OS.Except perhaps with Mac OS X, because the hardware vendor IS the software vendor -- if they really wanted to ship anything like that, they could just put it on the installation disc. :P

@ FireTime6 : No one wants that s**t on their computer.
