I have to say, I think you're stark, raving mad.I love BSG. It is a truly amazing show. Sci-Fi have given Ron Moore and his colleagues a great deal of creative freedom, and for that I think they really deserve a lot of kudos. They've also kept BSG on the air when ratings might've suggested dropping it, presumably because the highly positive critical reviews give Sci-Fi Channel credibility. BSG has run for 3 seasons now, and a 4th has been ordered. That is *hardly* "grabs ... and kills". So far we've had 3 wonderful seasons to love. Even if they didn't continue further, I would have to give them huge credit for that.Stargate SG-1 has run for 9 seasons. NINE seasons. That's a huge run. Atlantis, a spin-off series from a series made based on a movie, has run for 5 seasons! You must be smoking copious amounts of crack if 14 frakking seasons equates to taking something and killing it.Sci-Fi channel seem to have a really great record of honouring good shows by giving them time.*Fox* (gorram go-se), OTOH, does not. Fox greenlights great shows nobody else will, and then (presumably different people) gives them no chance at all to get their footing. One cannot say that about Sci-Fi channel, where they actually air everything they shoot and give things whole seasons and stuff.By contrast, Fox shoots 1/2 seasons of shows and airs only a few episodes.Firefly - 11 of 14 airedWonderfalls - 4(? I think) of 14 airedThe Inside - 7 of 13 airedDrive - 3 of 5 aired (or 4 of 6, if you count the 2hr premiere as 2 episodes)(... and there's plenty more examples like it)If you can provide examples of Sci-Fi channel ordering 1/2 or full seasons and then pulling the plug after only a few weeks, then I'll be impressed. The examples you gave of how Sci-Fi channel horribly abuse shows were totally ridiculous, as they are examples of how Sci-Fi channel[1] treat shows *remarkably well*.[1] ... which certainly has plenty of flaws, so I'm not saying they're perfect or anything. 1 word: Mansquito. Another example: wrestling?! It has also been said that they hate science fiction. Not really a good thing in a cable network called Sci-Fi.
Wishful thinking, I suspect. I would be very happy to find out that you're right, but I suggest not holding your breath.For one, Fox holds the rights, not Universal/Sci-Fi (other than for 2 more movies, the option for which will expire later this year if they don't begin production, I believe). For another, it would probably be hard to get everybody for another series, including Joss being rather busy. I hear Tim's available, mind you. ;PI do hope you're right, though.
99% of what scifi shows is absolute drivel. who the hell WATCHES all those god awful movies that are on whenever i check to see if stargate or bsg is on it. >
@lordigor -- that's your opinion and I'm more than willing to admit when you're wrong. I'm not averse to main characters dying or being otherwise eliminated; many of my favourite shows have done it and done it well, but this was simply not one of those times. Whedon is a one-trick pony who does the same story over and over... and without Tim Minear (who did far more writing on the FIREFLY series than Joss Whedon), he fell back into the same rut... get a waif of a girl to beat the crap out of assorted ugly bad-guys a la Buffy, resulting in nothing more than a River the Reaver Slayer movie.The basic premise of SERENITY was fine...I loved the explanation of the Reavers, but absolutely everything else was wrong. Typical Whedon crap.
I probably wouldn't support Equality Now under normal circumstances. I ordered my ticket to see Serenity and be amongst Browncoats for an evening. I'm pretty sure the only people in attendance will be Browncoats. Anyone else who wants to support the charity will just send money.

@scopitoneYou said it; FOX destroys EVERYTHING, not just great SciFi Series!The FIREFLY series was Joss getting to do his creative arc as a rewardfor Buffy's success; much as SPACE: ABOVE & BEYOND was the rewardfor the success of X FILES. Both were great SciFi with interesting charactersthat were created from the heart; the Black Tower Execs cannot bear to be wrongso the series were NOT promoted and failure was pre-ordained. I never heard of theseries FIREFLY until I accidentally saw the last 18 minutes of ONE show before itwas cancelled. Now I have the Complete Series on DVD, the Episodes thatnever aired are as good or better than the ones SciFi Channel aired. I can'tadd enough praise to another great series: HIGHLANDER The Series wasexcellent, especially the longer, uncensored European version. Check it out!Dr. Ron Paul in 2008, Before it's too late!http://www.infowars.com/http://www.prisonplanet.com/http://www.jonesreport.com/http://www.freedomtofascism.com/http://www.chrononhotonthologos.com/:^}
