briancuban.com — Should Congress step in to the NBA referee situation or any professional sports scandal? Should we leave it to them in investigate their own? Should there be an independant governing body for the four major sports?

Plus player purchases of anything related to World of WarCraft, such as the actual software itself as well as memorabilia and all sorts of licensing. Player transfers also add up.

http://tech-exposed.com/this is a NO BRAINER !!No they can not. They make it appear that they've made changes or cleaned up their act just for public appeal. Then its business as usual.

I do not like the government involvement in sport, however it is fully justifiable. This is due to a number of things but largely due to the big business nature of sport. Think of it, the gov't steps in on matters like Oil or fiascos like Enron etc etc. Sport is a multibillion, interstate business. As it is such, they all have Sherman Anti-Trust laws to worry about, and these laws are the ones governed by the federal govt, therefore, congress has some justification to do what they are doing. It still bothers me, but hasnt anyone considered that these people can multitask? Everyone posting messages seems to be under the impression that Senators and Reps. can only seem to concentrate on one issue at a time. Instead of Sport they should be involved with issue X (insert one of the following Iraq, Gas, Crack). Why cant they do more than one thing? Thats how s**t gets done, if the govt worked on one issue at a time we would have a govt that is more dysfunctional than the one we have now. Further, it is apparent to me that not many people understand the social institution that is sport. It goes like this...1)School...2) Family...3)Religion...4)SPORT..everything else follows, and for some, sport even over takes religion. That is why sport is such a big issue in this country. Complain all you want, but sport dictates/ effects what we read, do, watch and even how we think and learn. Not to mention it effects our relationships with people and how others are viewed, for example, how many Ny'ers here dont like red sox fans? How many football/soccer fans dislike fans who support Chelsea? Who here has an undying hatred of the Patriots and Pats fans? Getting my point? I hope.

I agree. as much as we can be serious about this, this is just entertainment. There might be serious money here but there are processes in entertainment business that the government arent just capable of handling because this in not their main concern.Just improve the process. Let government role as it is which is oversee fairness and validity but it is not their role to improve a business at all.

Strawman argument. I said government has no place in business, not that people have a right to commit fraud or theft.
