neognostic, actually he is more correct in his statement than any two things I have seen you write on a this comment thread. It seems all you can do is snipe at people with rude comments.

Roc32,This nation was not founded on God. It was founded on freedom. And part of that freedom includes not having to bow to ANY god. You've forgotten or never learned that many colonists fled the religious persecution in Europe. Sure, they left to worship god differently but they still fled to believe as they wished instead of as the state or anyone else told them. You entirely miss the point if you think this nation is about God.This nation is about freedom. About the right to say "no"... to live the way you want for yourself... to not have to worry about what anyone else thinks. That is the American Dream by the way.The American Dream is to be Free... to escape all the social, religious, and other entanglements of the old world. For the individual spirit of man to be released and breath free.

So then we can attribute the VA's budget to WW2, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War 1. What a bout non combat injured vets like me. I would like my massive medical costs removed from any estimated war costs.

All I can say is I hope people are raising their eyebrows. They should be. I'm all for moderates putting up the red flag. Shouldn't everyone be a little hesitant? Just like the air we breathe, every day we make decisions that will influence the lives of our children and grandchildren. Why not have some fiscal responsibility and stop... for one second.

True, earmarks exist for a reason: to allocate the specific amounts of funds to specific spending plans. It's what those specific spending plans are that need to be better conceived. Getting rid of earmarks entirely would essentially eliminate spending limits and controls.

At least let a couple fail to make an example of them. They will get scooped up and probably not affect anything, but the others will learn a lesson and straighten up real quick. They should have let GM file bankrupt so they could renegotiate (or get rid of) their UAW contract. Then they'd have half a chance
