cangooglehearme.com — Remember CanGoogleHearMe.com, from about a year ago? Guy flies to Mountain View, CA to sit in Google's lobby, determined to tell them an idea or be thrown out. Now, it turns out that Yahoo reached out to him too, and he's flying back to Silicon Valley tomorrow (Feb. 10th). He'll be releasing the idea on March 10th, 2008.

The idea is to get website advertising by saying you have a secret awesome idea on digg so people will visit your site. Seriously, getting this on Digg is a marketing ploy, how the hell is this a story if we don't even know what the idea is? Yea, I want to sit around and discuss something that I know nothing about. Buried.

The first rule of CanGoogleHearMe is you do not talk about CanGoogleHearMe.

dugg it for the fact that someone has enough guts to knock on the door of biggest search engine company in the world and make them listen to him/her. I hope that the idea will be a good one.

You have every right to be, and should be, proud of your son. I want to add a dose of helpful advice: never take negativity on the web too seriously. Anyone can say anything. It's an interesting story and certainly inspiring to some people. However, the vast majority of people aren't interested if there's no substance (action > words, for web sites). One can only hear about something for so long before it turns from inspiring to annoying. Some here are agitated by this making the front page, despite (still) not knowing what the idea is. Just know that idiotic comments are simply a byproduct of life online (see: YouTube comments). It's better not to respond to them, except to correct false information.Anyway, with that said, I think you guys have played your cards right. You've gotten major amounts of attention, and a lot of people are (still) curious. Even if the idea doesn't live up to people's imaginations (it undoubtedly won't), you're at least in much a better position than most people start out with. An idea doesn't have to be great in everyone's eyes: just great in the eyes of enough people to have a viable market.Good luck. ;)
