So much for being a f**king secular nation. It is tragic that this matters... I had to tell my own GOP-voting mother that I cared so little about the candidates´ respective faiths that even if I saw Obama praying to Mecca live on TV, I would still vote for him.Fact is, most people who believe that he is/was Muslim would NEVER have voted for him anyway, but still there is this obsession with knowing just how "Muslim" he is: my folks were here on a visit and downloading some bulls**t GOP scare tactics pack of organized lies that they got when they checked their email... "OBAMA VERY ACTIVE AS A MUSLIM IN HIS YOUTH", "OBAMA´S PARENTS DID NOT MEET AT SELMA MARCH"... and other repulsive you-can-already-imagine anti-BO BS. They even had the gall to say: "read this, it´ll really open your eyes..."My response? I clicked the document into the Recycle Bin and forbade them to access any computers in my house. "NOT with my goddamned DSL connection you won´t."It was kind of a hairy moment, but people like this really disgust me, even when they are people that I love.
Bush, and now to an extent McCain, not articulating what Campbell Brown says here is a large part why we are losing the 'war on terror'. Where's the leadership?
