latimes.com — Horrific though the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has been, its output is still short of what occurred a century ago in scrubby brush about 110 miles north of Los Angeles — site of the Lakeview gusher. While some experts believe the well off Louisiana has spewed upwards of 60 million gallons of oil into the gulf, the Lakeview well rained about...

Don't you dare say anything about Obama! He's black. His people have suffered so much.

Is BP cleaning up oil, or cleaning up embarrassment? Eye-opening video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZHnStD690U

"60 million gallons" total spilled and "4 million barrels a day". You people pulling these numbers out of your asses? I know it's confusing when the media quotes good news in gallons and bad news in barrels. But, that's no reason to just start making s**t up.1 barrel equals 42 gallons and the upper flow rate estimate is 40,000 barrels a day. If you're going to throw around wildly different numbers, then back it up with a quote.(BTW, "furthermore" is a 3 syllable word when a 3 letter word would do: "and".)

I don't get why mrquacker is getting dugg up. He points out how a dollar in 1910 is worth $23.40 today...as if that somehow negates my comment/joke about it being a bright side if it brought oil down to 30 cents a barrel. Yes even adjusting for inflation, that brings the cost of oil to less than 10% of what it is today.I actually thin that mrquacker thinks that it is 30 cents a GALLON. And therefore that 30 cents becoming $7 would be bad.Whether you like the original joke post or not, his response is meaningless.

Yeah...BP should have prevented this oil from making its way into the Gulf.

According to the following article http://budurl.com/LakeviewGusher more than 1.2 million tons of crude oil flooded Kern County, California. This spill went on for over a year but luckily technology has improved and the amount of oil coming out of the spill in the Gulf daily is a lot less than what was coming out daily during the California spill years ago.

its essentially showing that the current spill is NOT the largest spill in US history. at least not yet
