CONFIRMED: USB webcam that adheres to industry standards works on a computer that supports industry standards. I'm Ric Romero, and we'll have more on this breakthrough at 11.
I'm probably going to make a fool out of myself by asking this, but if we say that this Vision Cam is just a normal USB webcam, does that mean that I do it other way around and use a standard USB cam with the Xbox? I have always thought that the Vision Cam used some strange custom made drivers to boost its sales.
"I even found a website detailing how to play divx files on a Mac from 5 years ago here:<a class="user" href="http://www.projectomega.org/article.php?lg=en&php=tuts_howtos1l&p=2">http://www.projectomega.org/article.php?lg=en&php=tuts_howtos1l&p=2</a>"According to that page the only way to play divx and xvid was using vlc player which doesnt use apple codec system. They couldnt find a way to integrate the divx codecs into the mac system without converting them first!@manitobanot arguing with you. Linux wins. That these things arent written for macs is a testament to how little they are used. I just would have thought that these bits of software were so useful that apple would have made sure they worked. Specially since they seem to pride themselves on the macs capabilities with videoI would give a s**t if it werent for the arrogant and patronising mac ads
I got it with the Xbox Live Gold Pack thing. I found it for $20 off the regular price...about $70 Canadian. Since a year of Xbox Live is usually $60, the camera, some Arcade games, and some MS Points were only $10. So if anyone wants a camera and is going to be getting Xbox Live anyway, be sure to search for this box set.
Confirmed. It works with Skype as well (i'm using 2.5.0.85) on an iMac G5....It's nice that Microsoft made this camera White so it matches the mac so nicely. :-)
The recent 10.4.9 update did include support for USB based videoconference cameras - this isn't exactly the same as USB webcams as they are USB devices designed for a specific standard - it seems that the vision cam is one such device for it to work out of the box. This isn't true of all USB webcams though.
Bulls**t. It only works with MSN/WLM on Vista. I have been looking for stuff to get it working for the exact same thing but have found nothing. So if you know how to make it work in VISTA, please tell me (and everyone else who wants this).
it also works with AIM 6.1.41.2 as of what i know.......Microsoft hasn't released any news on drivers for the vision cam as of yet for vista. but just keep waiting.........

But wouldn't that mess up the picture/video quality?
