chaosgone-politics.blogspot.com — Rick Sanchez and Kiran Chetry appear not to expect the answer they got from a Republican college student on a special "College Week" edition of CNN's American Morning. On being asked who she thinks the GOP candidate will be for the 2008 Presidential election, Laura Elizabeth Morales puts her support behind Ron Paul.

@Dusco2k7Let me get this straight. You believe some malevolent force is at work to keep Ron Paul down. This force is keeping Ron off of CNN? Man - don't let your kids smoke what this guy is smoking or they will be working the front line at taco bell their whole life.

"Top Tier" has a very PC feel to it. It's totally inappropriate.

exactly.Or as Rush Limbaugh would say: "symbolism over substance"That Democrat girl in gorgeous - it doesn't matter what she says, she will get elected anyway as long as her dress is short enough.

Very entertaining. So do you blame CNN or do you blame the s**t-for-brains moppet-heads that do the morning news? Those two clowns couldn't interview their way out of a wet paper bag.

Faskippy - I agree. Heading down the road to FASCISM is a much more urgent concern!! If we don't stop this downward spiral, then NO ONE, no govt, no country, no one ... will be able to fix any of the environmental problems, human rights issues, etc. If we keep the elitist, war-mongering, friends of the corp/military/industrial complex in power, then you can say good-bye to protests on global warming or any other environmental issue, say good-bye to free speech, say good-bye to some of your non-white non-elitists friends who may become prisoners for life or be killed by police brutality - or sent off to die in some illegal war somewhere. And there is no telling if any other country would be powerful enough and/or willing to confront the US govt at that point.Fix those issues first, then deal with global warming... have a long, sincere debate - centered on facts - about whether humans can change effects of global warming.Ron Paul is obviously a reasonable man who uses logical thinking (can't say the same about any of the other candidates besides Kucinich & Gravel). If he becomes president, and if the facts were clear we have to do something about global warming, I am sure he would do the right thing. That's what his message, and voting record, has always been about.Just remember: Those power hungry corporate fascist types don't give a hoot about the environment, no matter what they say during election campaigns. You can't even trust those who *pretend* to care about the environment.

I'm curious.. Is the war a large part of what you're considering or not? It seemed like that's what you were saying at first, but then you mentioned all the pro-war democrats (-Gravel & Kucinich) as better options then the Republican candidates. Clearly freedom is too "radical" for you, so I can see why Paul would frighten you. Are you just stuck on being against the war because Bush is still in office? Will you be for it in backing you democrat candidate against Ron Paul?

i'm tired of this silly "cooling" bs that anti-global warming enthuists are passing around. <a class="user" href="http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/11/23/18534/222">http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/11/23/18534/ ...</a>" Objection: The alarmists were predicting the onset of an ice age in the '70s. Now it's too much warming! Why should we believe them this time?Answer: It is true that there were some predictions of an "imminent ice age" in the 1970s, but a cursory comparison of those warnings and today's reveals a huge difference.Today, you have a widespread scientific consensus, supported by national academies and all the major scientific institutions, solidly behind the warning that the temperature is rising, anthropogenic CO2 is the primary cause, and it will worsen unless we reduce emissions. In the 1970s, there was a book in the popular press, a few articles in popular magazines, and a small amount of scientific speculation based on the recently discovered glacial cycles and the recent slight cooling trend from air pollution blocking the sunlight. There were no daily headlines. There was no avalanche of scientific articles. There were no United Nations treaties or commissions. No G8 summits on the dangers and possible solutions. No institutional pronouncements. You could find broader "consensus" on a coming alien invasion.Quite simply, there is no comparison."here's a link with more technical details. <a class="user" href="http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=94">http://www.realclimate.org/index.php?p=94</a>

Tthe League of Conservation Voters scores him on the issues:<a class="user" href="http://www.capwiz.com/lcv/bio/keyvotes/?id=567&congress=1101&lvl=C">http://www.capwiz.com/lcv/bio/keyvotes/?id=567&con ...</a><a class="user" href="http://www.thisisby.us/index.php/content/ron_paul_is_not_the_second_coming">http://www.thisisby.us/index.php/content/ron_paul_ ...</a>"Paul's abysmal record on the environment is driven in large measure by his love of sweet, sweet oil: in the 109th Congress alone, he voted to allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, to shield oil companies from MTBE contamination lawsuits, against increasing gas mileage standards, to allow new offshore drilling, and to stop making oil companies pay royalties to the government for drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Par for the course for a man who called the Kyoto accords "bad science, bad economics and bad domestic policy" and "anti-Americanism masquerading as environmentalism."

What's really funny about this clip is that both of the college students seem vastly more intelligent than the two hosts, and also that neither of the college students would allow the hosts to manipulate their answers.
