blog.wired.com — Instead of listening to Blitzer for 15-20 total minutes, we'll watch 20-30 user-submitted 30 second videos. But how is that "more democratic" if CNN picks which ones to play or omit? How about letting us actually pick them? And how about a novel democratic concept: start and stop "chess clocks" to obey the "equal time" rule for each candidate?

BTW, I found another version after I submitted this one, which deserves props, but maybe a better category: http://digg.com/politics/The_CNN_YouTube_Debates_Political_debates_brought_to_the_massesAnd here's the direct YouTube page to submit your videos: http://www.youtube.com/debates

I agree with you, this doesn't make it more democratic. It will still be liable to slanting through the actions of the host and CNN/youtube. It will still be criticized for which questions are asked to which candidates and how much time is allocated in answering, we can only hope it is fairer than the last "debate"...

Yes, without knowing how the videos are chosen, it will basically be no different than previous debates.
