cnn.com— Four Kent State students were killed and nine were wounded in the 1970 clash, which followed several days of Vietnam War protests.

Good thing this didn't come out during the 70s, they would've had a full blown civil war on their hands. It was coming to that point with the Weather Underground and other extremist groups who 'wanted to bring the war home'. Would a peaceful people take up arms against their government if they were being killed on orders from it?
I heard this on NPR yesterday, and to be perfectly honest I couldn't understand anything on the tape. The "gunfire" sounded like someone was recording their commute to work with the mic hanging out the car window. If they can use technology to make it clearer then that's great, but I can make nothing out of the tape as is. Understandable, however, how emotion can make the most garbled noise sound like an angelic choir.
"the soldiers are NOT at fault here. their commanding officers are. if you are an armed soldier, and you are told to open fire, you do NOT question it. you have been trained to follow orders and do your job, be it in a real war, or in a ridiculous, horrible situation like Kent. it was the commanding officers who used terrible judgment, not the soldiers."Dumbass. I would never shoot an unarmed civilian PERIOD. No dumb s**t is going to tell me to commit a crime and murder someone.
Let's hear / see the tape - I don't believe ANYTHING that comes out of CNN, they hate the military as it is - and with all the s**t available today, one can 'doctor' anything to make sheeple believe anything.
@matthewmok"These students were communist sheeple, seditious, and traitorous. They should have been shot."what the f**k is wrong with you? these are people we are talking about. differing opinions in politics means they should be killed? "traitorous", what are we still living in the feudal age? you need to get off this site and go educate yourself and gain some ethical foundation. Dumbass.

How easy it is to look back with 20/20 clarity and make a moral judgement without understanding.

Yet people only want the government to have access to firearms when the government is likely to kill unarmed people.
