cnn.com — The theatrical box office might be under siege, but it fought back and actually gained some ground in 2006. As the box office year, which will conclude with the New Year's holiday weekend, winds to an end, the total national tally is headed toward an estimated $9.42 billion, which would represent an increase of nearly 5 percent compared with 2005.

There are only 3 or 4 movies on that list that I liked (yes I saw them all) and only Casino Royale and Superman were worth my money for a second viewing each. 2006 was a pretty poor year for Studio Films specifically, but what year isn't nowadays? And while Pirates was terrible, the CGI FX was outstanding, but they don't make a film, only enhance it.
