I am glad to see this ruling from Judge Leon, and glad that CASAA exists to help electronic cigarettes have a future.I find it incredible that agencies charged with public safety and health, and agencies with anti-smoking mandates, are arguing against electronic cigarettes. They clearly have some agenda other than the public's health. If you don't know much about electronic cigarettes please search the web and find out for yourself. (Or visit casaa.org if you want to quickly find links about how they work and what is known of their safety.) Then make up your own mind as to whether you'd prefer yourself and/or some smoker(s) in your life to be smoking or to be using an electronic cigarette.

This ruling will do wonders for individuals seeking alternatives to smoking. As a psychotherapist I am grateful that my clients in outpatient care and the inpatient/residential treatment participants have this technology to rely on. Unfortunately, there are many cigarette smokers who refuse much needed treatment based on non-smoking policies. Switching to a technology that avoids second hand smoke and combustion issues will go far to overcome this problem. Thankfully the judge ruled from a logical and global position rather than a more narrow perspective.

Smokers who have tried just about every method under the sun to quit, to no avail, have experienced incredible success by switching to vaporized nicotine--4 out of 5 regular users are able to completely stop lighting up tobacco cigarettes. Their health improvements are indistinguishable from those who quit smoking using any other method. Instead of doing their best to quash this product, groups that claim they are champions for public health such as FDA, ALA, ACS, and AHA should be shouting "Halleluja" and recommending that smokers give this option a try. I have mental health problems and have been locked up in a loony bin twice. I know I wouldn't ask for help if I thought I couldn't smoke or vape. It's very disturbing that a lot of people don't realise the harm anti smokers have caused.
